To an outside viewer, Nathan and Eve Thayer have an idyllic life. They have a lovely home in an affluent Boston suburb, a beautiful baby girl, great careers – but beneath the glossy surface, all is not what it seems. Stress in Eva’s life is mounting, both professionally and personally, and she feels increasingly uneasy at her workplace.

A break-in at a nearby house hasn’t helped, either. Someone is out to destroy the Thayer’s peace, but no one knows why. Detective Rita Myers hasn’t discovered whether Eve is a target or a suspect, but what she does know is that every disturbing incident in this peaceful neighborhood points back at her.
