About Gumshoe Books

Gumshoe Books is an independent online bookshop specialising in crime fiction and mysteries. The word "gumshoe" was used in America to describe private detectives sneaking around on soft-soled shoes while shadowing the baddies.

The Gumshoe Books catalogue is curated, your orders are processed, picked and packed by real people. Books are our passion and we want to help readers find new favourite authors; and if great books and authors find their way to new readers, that makes us very happy indeed.

We encourage all our readers to use their local independent bookshops if they are lucky enough to have one close by, and their libraries too - if you don't use it, you lose it, and we all need a great book infrastructure. Our own local favourite indie is the East Gate Bookshop in Totnes!

Gumshoe Books was founded in 2024 by Anneli Meeder. It is the first bookshop in the family of specialist shops owned by Meeder Books Ltd. Gumshoe Books is based in Totnes, in the UK. We are only selling online.
